At the end of February, the girl who I trained to take my position at the lab when I had Gwen had some things come up and wasn't going to be able to keep working any more. Since I was already working one day a week, I offered/was asked to help out while we hire and train a new office manager. Luckily, my awesome friends offered to take turns watching Gwen (their husbands are the owners of the lab...so maybe it was a bit of obligation too....;)) and I was able to work mostly full time hiring and training our new office manager, who is amazing! It was a busy month, and I missed Gwen like crazy. I think she missed me too, but I'm pretty sure she had fun with her friends, learning all sorts of new things that I could never teach her. I don't know how working mom's do it. I'd be super depressed if I couldn't be with my baby the majority of the time. Plus, I don't know how they get everything done. I've been struggling on the keeping the house clean front while I've been working, but not too much longer and I'll be back to my normal routine.
Another thing keeping both Dan and I super-duper busy is we are remodeling our kitchen. We started the tear down the day after Gwen's birthday, and it has been a much bigger project than either of us anticipated. We've wanted to remodel the kitchen since we moved in, and we finally were able to do it. It's looking great!! I won't post any pictures yet, as I'll do a post on the finished project. It's been quite an ordeal, but it will make our house so much better. It will be so awesome once it's done...but getting to that point has been a trial. We completely gutted everything. New cabinets, new flooring, new walls, new paint, new baseboards, new countertops....They say if your marriage can survive a remodel, or building a house, you'll make it forever, and so far, we've made it with only a few minor fights. :) It is looking amazing and I'm so excited for the finished product.
NOW, on to the moment I know you've all been waiting for~photos of Gwen.
Gwen loves to feed Chloe from her snack cup, but then she gets kind of mad at Chloe when she actually eats her treats instead of giving them back to her. She also loves her baby, especially her eyes and putting her pacifier in her mouth. She's learned how to climb up the stairs and is working on going down.
ST. PATTY'S DAY. We didn't really do anything special, as our kitchen was a huge mess of dust and...well, that's really all...but we did wear green. Well, Gwen and I wore green. Dan tried to say he wore green, but it was more blue....I pinched him a few times for it.
BIRTHDAYS!! My mom celebrated her 58th birthday on March 1st. We had cake and ice cream and a yummy dinner. My nephew Leo celebrated his 1st birthday on March 20th. We went over for his birthday bash. Gwen was jealous of all his toys, and that he got his own cupcake. These 2 cousins are just 5 weeks apart. They are pretty cute together.
HELPING DAD. We like to think we are helping dad. Gwen especially. She would walk over to Dan and hold on to his back as he was laying floor, or doing anything where he had to crouch down. I don't think she realized that she was actually more of a hinderance then a help. She also discovered the paint bucket and was pretty entertained with it for a while. It was pretty cute. I on the other hand, am actually capable of helping, when I am asked and when Gwen is asleep. So here is a lovely picture of me scrubbing out the cement from our back splash. That was not really a fun job...And there you have it. Our month so far. It's been busy, and we are both ready to be done with these projects so we can actually spend some time together again. Wish us luck.
I remember you saying this is what dan was giving you for your birthday. I'm impressed you guys are do hand on with DIY projects. Props girl. And of course, Gwen is adorable. I love her and Chloe next to each other. How long in your life do you get to be the exact same size as your dog?! so fun!
