What started out as our little garden has turned into our HUGE garden!! I love it. All of our gardens (fruit, veggie, and flower) have been doing so well. Since we got back from Europe, they have exploded. It has been fun watching them start out as tiny seeds and get so big. I have to admit, I didn't think we would be successful gardeners, espeically starting all from seed, but I am proud of us. We haven't been as committed as we could have been, but nevertheless, we have succeeded. Even our raspberries and blackberries have fruit on them!!

CaLiFoRnIa~4th of July
Well, Danny and I both thought that we haven't been traveling enough, and we needed another vacation. Mostly, I needed the BEACH!! This has been a sad summer for me. The last two summers, we lived in an apartment with a pool at which I could lounge around on Saturdays while D man is working. This summer I have nothing. No rays of sunshine to brighten my lonely Saturdays, unless I want to roast in my front yard, full of dead weeds, which I don't. So, I proposed that we make the 9 hour drive to LA for a fun filled weekend at Knottsberry Farm and Venice Beach. We took our good friends Von and Ash with us, along with their 3 adorable kiddos. They did amazing in the car, and the whole vaca, and it was tons of fun to have them with us.
Our Room
It was quite a quick trip, but well worth it. We took Friday off and drove to Cali. We got there at around 6, checked into our hotel and headed down to Downtown Disney. It is the Exit of Disney Land, and is totally free. They have tons of restaurants and shops, and street performers. We ate at the House of Blues, which was practically freezing.
Cash and Danny
Saturday we went to Knottsberry Farm. It was SO much fun. There was hardley anybody there, so we walked on to almost every ride. I think our longest wait was about 10 minutes. It was amazing. We ate at Joe's Crab Shack, which was delicious. MMMMM Fresh sea food!
This rollercoaster goes 0-80 mph in 2 seconds. AHHHH!

This guy did a front flip over 10 people. It was crazy!
Sawyer and his Winnie the Pooh Sunglasses. He chose them himself.
This guy and this picture alone made the trip worth while. We wanted to take a picture with him for 2 reasons: #1-he's HUGE #2= he was wearing a very festive 4th of July swimsuit. Classic. Ash asked if we could take our picture with him because he looked so festive. He asked where we were from. We said, "Utah" and he said, "Well, welcome to LA" Hilarious.
PS) When we came home, we found some fun critters waiting for us. I think this bird flew into our house when we got home, but I don't know for sure...

Our Last Stop: Germany
We took a train from Austria to Germany. We stopped in Munich for about an hour to drop off our luggage and check into our hotel and then were off to Fussen, where we saw Neuschwanstein Castle, the castle that the Disney Castle is modeled after. It was built by Mad King Ludwig in the 1800s. It is built high up in the mountains and has a great view of the city. King Ludwig built approximately 5 castles, all of which he paid for out of his own pocket, causing his family to become almost bankrupt. 174 days after he completed Neuschwanstein, he was arrested and removed from kingship under the charge of being mentally inept. However, before he could be tried, his body was mysteriously found in a lake. No one really knows what happened to him, even still. The castle was opened to the public immediately after his death because people were accusing parliament of murdering him. They thought that one room in the castle would prove Ludwig’s craziness. That room was an imitation cave. For some reason he built a fake cave in the castle with concrete walls and ceilings to look like boulders and stalagmites. I don’t really know if it helped parliaments cause, the guide didn’t mention that part. The castle was beautiful and the tour was interesting. Afterwards, we went on a little hike to get a better view of the castle, and it was worth it.

Day two we spent in Munich. We walked to Oktoberfest grounds, saw the city, went to the city center, and did some shopping. The Munich City Center is famous for its cuckoo clock. It’s the biggest one in the world. We also went to a church where the devil set foot. As the legend goes, the devil came into the church and the priest told him that he wasn’t allowed to come any farther. The devil got mad and stomped his foot, and being the devil and all, it was so hot that it melted the tile.

Did you know that the devil wears shoes?
Our last day in Europe was spent at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. It was so sad, but very informational. After the camp, we went to the city center again. Bayern Munchen had a game that night and they were having their pre-game party. There was beer, music, chanting, singing, yelling and lots of Lederhosen. It was so much fun to see. There were so many people there, all singing and chanting that I couldn’t help but smile. Danny found a couple of steins on the ground that he just had to have, so we took them, washed them and brought them home.

Even though we got to see so many amazing things the very best thing about our vacation was getting to spend 2 weeks with the person I love. We didn’t have to think about work. We didn’t have to worry about cell phones or email, we just got to be together. It was so great to have that time together. I would do it all over again in a heart beat.
